It was another great weekend for the Racing Performance Services customers and sponsored riders. The finale of the Central Motorcycle Road Racing Association was held at Motorsport Ranch at Cresson, Texas. Featured for this weekend were RPS sponsored riders and customers Mark Delano, Shane Stoyko, Scott Beckley, and Jeremy Helms.

Mark Delano was looking to wrap up the season championship chase at Motorsport Ranch. At stake was the opportunity to win as many as NINE championships this year. Over the last several races, Mark has come under increasing pressure by his competitors as he has definitely raised the level of competition in the region. By accomplishing tasks that no novice since Colin Edwards has been able to do, Mark has distinguished himself as, “the man to beat”. Mark had already sewn up the following classes:

ü      GTU Amateur

ü      GTO Amateur

ü      Unlimited Gran Prix Amateur

ü      Middleweight Gran Prix Amateur

ü      Heavyweight Superbike Amateur

ü      Unlimited Supersport Amateur

Still at stake were the Middleweight Superbike and Middleweight Superport championships. Showing the heart of a champion, Mark finished no worse than 2nd place ALL WEEKEND and wrapped up SEVEN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Great job Mark.

Shane Stoyko also impressed the crowd with an impressive win in the big $$$ Unlimited GP Expert race. Shane took his newly obtained ’03 GSXR-1000 and let the CMRA expert riders know that despite being out of action for 2 months, he is still a force to be reckoned with. As a warm-up to the Unlimited GP race, the Unlimited Supersport race featured an opportunity for Shane to really find out what his new/off the showroom GSXR-1000 could do as local legend Joe Prussiano was in the field. As the race started, Joe took the lead with Shane in 3rd place. Shane moved up to 2nd place fairly quickly and closed to within striking distance of Prussiano, but could not close the gap. Shane came in and gave Marcus feedback on the Racing Performance Services prepared forks and Penske shock with an RPS custom compression stack. Shane was happy with the performance and mentioned he was still getting the feel of his new motorcycle as well as “knocking off some of the rust”. In the Unlimited GP Expert race, Shane took the hole shot and rode a fast and intelligent race to take first place and the big $$$ that go along with the winners spot. During the race, Stoyko came under heavy pressure from Logan Young and Craig Montgomery. In the end, Stoyko was not to be denied.

Jeremy Helms used his RPS prepared SV650 motor and suspension to wrap 2 championships and a slew of top-5 positions on this championship weekend. At stake were the Lightweight Superbike and Lightweight Supersport championships. Using his head, Jeremy rode to some smart and impressive finishes to WRAP UP TWO championships. Great Job Jeremy!!!

Scott Beckley was also carrying the RPS banner this weekend. Scott has split his time this season flat tracking and road racing. Scott has only completed a handful of road races the last several months. As a warm-up, Scott rode the CMRA final round to get his, “road racing legs back.”

Scott did not fail to impress. Like Jeremy Helms, Scotty uses RPS prepared motors, Geometry, and Suspension services. Despite poor grid positions due to the lack of races competed in this year, Scott’s great weekend was highlighted with a win in the Lightweight Supersport Amateur race. Good riding Scott. Look for Scott Beckley at the WERA Grand National finals.

What a great year. RPS thanks all of its customers in the Texas region. Overall, RPS customers won more than 25 championships and 100 individual sprint races. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
