OCTOBER 20, 2009 - KELSEY CAPTURES 600cc SUPERSTOCK AND SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Danny Kelsey completed a VERY SUCCESSFUL 2009 season and captured the 2009 CMRA 600 Superstock and Superbike Championships. Battling through a season that offered plenty of obstacles, Kelsey put together a season that saw him put together 8 wins, 27 podium finishes, and 37 top-5 finishes in 40 CMRA sprint championship starts.
The
season was a career step for the Georgetown, Texas rider. With several
key goals accomplished, 2009
marked a huge stride for Kelsey and the RPS Racing Team.
In June, Kelsey was still struggling with getting the Coca-Cola Suzuki GSXR-600
in race winning form. Marcus (McBain) and Danny had a soul-searching meeting, and Kelsey immediately
responded with a 3 win performance
at MSR-Houston which included two wins over perennial front runner Ty Howard.
Kelsey then continued
to shine as he won three races at Oak Hill Raceway while posting the fastest lap
time of the weekend
(1:22.9) and battling AMA Supersport Champion Ricky Parker head to head
throughout the weekend.
At the season finale at Texas World Speedway, Kelsey rode smart and under control to run a personal best laptime of 1:45.2 with all races seeing him within vary less than a second from the blazing laptime.
Kelsey heads into the 2010 season with high hopes and the anticipation of getting a ride a "little less tired than his 2007 Suzuki 600". As the champagne flows still after the season for the team, 2010 looks to be full of promise.
